I like the design guys – the simplicity is appealing.
Have you thought about the overall site? The site has got some fantastic features, but I don’t see how the plan relates to these, other than lots of windows.
For example:
The microclimate will generate easterly winds up the valley in hot weather, but the opposite in cooler weather.
The predominant winds are from the south west(?).
The ridge-line to the north will make sunrise later in the morning.
The stream will have a cooling effect.
The swampy area by the gate is a great opportunity for a water feature.
The central flattish platform is an obvious place for the house site, but have you considered other locations? e.g. on the southern ridge, facing north
Cheers

thanks bro – interesting points (especially about the wind). main thing is to have the thermal mass wall north facing (though there is currently some debate as to whether a wall will do the trick, P thinks windows will be needed).
Also want to have the windows facing east and west for the best views.
I hear you re the pond idea, the drainage pipes for the driveway have helped create a natural collection point that will make a v nice water feature.
I think that the central area is what’s approved for a building site (there’s 1,000 sqm) but we certainly have some leeway as to how far towards the gate we go – which will also offset the garage (currently planned for the section cut out of the north facing slope…). Loads to think about.
Next thing is to figure out what materials and on that basis find a builder & architect team we can work with. Have no doubt the latter will have loads of suggestions re the plan.
